I hope all of you had a restful and relaxing winter break, and are ready for an exciting finish to our year of Houston Real Men Reading!!!
This month we are looking forward to reading about Martin Luther King Jr., Civil Rights, Jim Crow, and learning about biographies. We will be going to different schools to share in your reading successes and watching the wonderful interactions between students and MENtors. Please feel free to comment on this blog to share successes, suggestions, and comments with your fellow MENtors.

The Books are HERE!!!

Hi Everyone,

We are in the second week of our blog and I hope as our MENtors will begin using our new blog. Most of the campuses have reported that the books have arrived on the campuses so it looks like we get to start reading next week. I hope eveyone is as excited as I am!?! We will chat again next week as our first reading gets underway. The second grade book for Novemeber is Scholastic True or False: Reptiles while fifth grade gets to read Spiders by Nic Bishop and finally seventh grade gets to delve into Face to Face with Sharks by David Doubilet and Jennifer Hayes.
All of these non-fiction books sound exciting and maybe a little creepy......at least for us girls! Let us all know what you think of the books and if you are Ready to Read!

Let's READ!

Welcome to the Houston Real Men Read blog! We are going to start the journey through the 5 books that you will be reading to the Houston ISD students this year, and as we go I hope that all of our MENtors will take some time to share comments, ideas, thoughts, and concerns with each other on this blog.
We will do this by responding to posts that I will put up twice during the months that we are reading; November, December, January, February, and May.
Again welcome and I hope all of you are as excited about this journey as we are!
